Business Insurance

Know what your policies actually do.

Commercial cover is easy to buy and hard to compare. We explain in plain English what each policy generally responds to, so you can decide with confidence.

What we can place

The cover most employers need

These descriptions are general. Whether a given cover suits your business depends on what you do, who you do it for and what your contracts require.

  • Workers' compensation

Generally responds to work-related injury and illness costs for employees. California requirements, classification codes and experience modification all affect what an employer pays.

  • General liability

Generally responds to third-party bodily injury and property damage arising from business operations, subject to policy terms.

  • Commercial liability packages

Bundle several commercial coverages. The value is in the specific forms and endorsements, not the package name.

  • Errors and omissions

Also called professional liability. Generally responds to claims alleging a failure in professional services rendered.

  • Directors and officers

Generally responds to claims against individuals in management or board roles arising from their decisions in those roles.

  • Employment practices liability

Generally responds to employment-related allegations such as wrongful termination, discrimination or harassment claims.

  • Commercial umbrella

Sits above underlying policies to provide additional limits, subject to the underlying coverage requirements.

  • Risk-management support

Reviewing exposures, contract requirements and certificates so coverage matches what the business has actually committed to.

  • Buy-sell agreement funding

Insurance used to fund an ownership-transfer agreement. Requires coordination with your attorney and accountant.
